The Last Day Before NaNoWriMo 2015
Oh my – time has flown. Now there is only today, then tomorrow I plunge into the malestrom of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days – #NaNoWriMo2015.
I’m feeling OK about my prep – not great, but I’ve spent a lot of time on trains and buses lately going over scenes in my head, trying to figure out the conflicts and motivations of my main characters and a few side character, and even crying over a few of the more emotional scenes I’ve thought up. Of course, that may have just been fatigue – whoever said business trips were fun has never been on one I think!
One thing I’ve discovered – I think I’m actually more of a pantser than a ploter, and that really surprises me! At work, or whenever I have to write something non-fiction, I outline extensively. Then I just fill in the blanks and I’m done. But for this story, I think I’ll actually do better with a general concept, a few scenes in my head, and my butt in a chair, hands on my keyboard (also known as “bichok”). We’ll see how it goes very soon.
Tomorrow – I write. And then every day for the next 29 days I’ll try and churn out 2,500 words or so to meet the 50,000 word goal.
