NaNoWriMo 2015 – Day 2 Progress
Today was my first day back at work after my two week trip to London. So not only did I have to put in a full day of work, but I was also working in the evening covering an acquisition “go live” meeting for our new Malaysia office. Burning the candle at both ends today.
But in between the meetings and the work, I did manage another couple of thousand words. Now that it’s 10 minutes to mid-night, I went ahead an updated my word count. I’m officially 10% of the way done with my novel. Woo hoo!
Ten percent may not seem like much, but if you have ever gone to lose weight, they say the first goal you should set for yourself is a 10% weight loss. Once you achieve that, you can set a new goal. So – now that I’m 10% of the way into my novel, my new goal is to get to 25% by the end of the week. That will ensure I stay on track to complete the novel in 30 days.
Meanwhile – I’ve been refining the conflict and the characters a bit as I go. The prose is still a bit sparse, but I’m learning a ton just getting the scenes down onto the page. I feel bad – my husband wants me to tell him all about the novel, but I just can’t. It seems like such drivel – but I’m doing this for the learning experience more than anything.
Time for bed – I’ll think about this some more tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day!
